WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University track and field program traveled across town to Otterbein University to take part in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday afternoon. There,
Nolan Piper's runner-up finish in the weight throw highlighted a quality performance from the Comets.
Including Piper, the Comets put forth four program top-10 performances on the day as well.
MEN
Weight Throw:
Nolan Piper moved up one spot on the Capital all-time list in the weight throw, tossing a mark of 16.34 meters, which is now the second all-time weight throw in Cap history. Piper was the runner-up in the event.
Shot Put:
Bo Baker placed fourth overall in the event with his best toss registering 14.71 meters. The mark was a new personal best and moves him from 10th up to 8th all-time at Capital in the event.
Distance Medley Relay: The quartet of
Mikey Arnone,
Cheik Souare,
Aiden Mahony, and
Kolin Brake ran a time of 10:54.90 to place fifth overall in the event. The time was also good enough to set the relay team fifth all-time in Capital history.
5,000-Meter Run:
Zach Glotzbecker was 13th overall in 16:38.46.
60-Meter Dash:
Dom Glenn clocked a prelims time of 7.03 seconds to qualify for the finals in eighth position. In the finals, Glenn improved to fifth place in 7.02 seconds.
800-Meter Run:
Kolin Brake placed 13th overall in a time of 2:06.25.
WOMEN
Pole Vault:
Alex Wilkinson cleared a new personal best in the pole vault, improving her own position in seventh all-time at Capital. She cleared 2.98 meters to place 12th in the event and improve upon her previous best mark of 2.95 meters.
UP NEXT
The Comets track and field program will now turn their attention to the Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday, February 22nd. That meet will serve as Capital's final tune-up before the OAC Championships that will take place on February 28th and March 1st in Ada, Ohio.
