DELAWARE, Ohio – A group of Capital University track and field student-athletes traveled across central Ohio to take part in the Ohio Wesleyan University Open on Friday evening, putting forth a strong effort across the board.
MEN
Shot Put:
Nolan Piper finished as the runner-up with his best throw marking 13.75 meters.
3,000-Meter Run:
Aaron McNutt paced the Comets with a runner-up finish in a time of 9:50.80 in the meet's longest race.
Jordan Hull also ran the same race and finished in 10:17.96 to place seventh.
WOMEN
60-Meter Dash:
Jaleea Harvey placed second with a time of 8.34 seconds, which is good to place her in a three-way tie for 10th all-time in Capital history in the event. Her time is tied with Brittany Carter (2009) and Akaila Howard (2017).
One Mile Run:
Olivia Ellis won the event with a time of 5:46.74, beating out her closest competitor by more than three seconds.
3,000-Meter Run:
Catherine Schaub also clocked a race-winning time of 12:04.69 in the 3K.
Weight Throw:
Mia Sanchez led the trio of Comets in the weight throw with a toss of 12.13 meters.
Secora Jones marked 11.98 meters, while
DeiVon McCullough was next with an 11.89 meter throw.
Shot Put: Sanchez again led Cap in the shot, finishing in second place with a heave of 10.42 meters. McCullough was next, marking 10.40 meters. Jones rounded it out with a shot put toss of 7.24 meters.

The Comets will be back in action tomorrow, February 15th with a small group of athletes competing at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Otterbein University.
