COLUMBUS, Ohio - Capital University men's basketball team hosted the Student Presidents from Washington and Jefferson in a non-conference matchup. The Comets handled the press well to start the first half.
Dallas Tucker was making an impact on both ends, and Capital was able to build a small lead. Washington and Jefferson slowly worked their way back and were able to take the lead before half with a 43-40 score. The Presidents kept the pressure on throughout the second half, pressing full court and forcing turnovers. Despite the Comets finding a second wind late in the game, it wasn't enough and Washington and Jefferson finished on top with a final score of 79-73.

The loss makes Capital 5-5 (1-2 in OAC play). Winning improves the Presidents to 8-2 on the season.

Chris Mitchell's leadership on the defense allowed Capital to take the lead early. The Presidents didn't let up though, and their full-court pressure started to become a problem for Capital. The frontcourt combo of
Dallas Tucker and
McKane Finkenbine gave Washington and Jefferson trouble to start the second half. Finkenbine tied the game back up with an early three-pointer and Tucker continued to dominate the lane. The Comets were feeling the pressure again this half, still having a hard time beating the full-court press. Washington and Jefferson took the lead back and maintained it, but in the final two minutes the Comets found their second win. A shifty move into a three-point basket by Finkenbine got Capital within three. Washington and Jefferson was able to fend off the comeback attempt for a final score of 79-73.

Dallas Tucker led the Comets in points with 18 shooting 70% from the field. He also brought home five rebounds.

Se'Ron Calloway-White has a well-rounded 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Chris Mitchell was a monster on the boards with a career-high 17 rebounds. He also scored 12 points and led the team in steals with four.

McKane Finkenbine led the team in assists with seven. He assisted the offensive effort with 13 points and also brought in five rebounds.
