Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Comets Overpower Denison in 78-67 Victory

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team took the floor on Wednesday, Nov. 19 for a meeting with Denison University, who received votes in the D3hoops.com Preseason Poll.  The Comets would have complete control in this one, not once giving away the lead in the game's entirety and coming away with a 78-67 victory.  With the result, Capital remains undefeated and moves to 4-0.  Denison, on the other hand, falls to 2-2.

The first ten minutes of play would see both teams feeling each other out, as the score would be 15-14 in favor of the Comets with just under ten minutes to play in the first half.  Following the eight minute media timeout, Capital would begin to take charge, growing their lead to as big as 14 points in the half after a Julian Mitchell three pointer.

After the break, it would be more of the same, as the Comets once again would seem to get whatever they wanted at the offensive end.  Seven straight points from Se'Ron Calloway-White with just under ten minutes to play in the game would give Capital a 21 point lead, their largest of the night.   Calloway-White would finish with 17 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists.

Denison would try to fight back, cutting the lead to single digits with a minute left, but it would be too little too late as Capital would come away with the 78-67 victory.

Leading the charge offensively was McKane Finkenbine, who finished with a team high 22 points on 8-15 shooting from the field.  The Anna product would also lead the team in assists with four.

Chris Mitchell was a force on the boards, recording a team high 14 rebounds to go along nine points and three assists.

Once again finishing with double digit scoring was Julian Mitchell, finishing with 14 points on a very efficient 4-5 shooting from the floor.  Mitchell has reached double digit scoring in all four games this season and is currently averaging 14 a game.
