WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Capital University women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25 for a match-up with crosstown rival Otterbein University. A Cardinal goal in the 19th minute would be the difference, as the Comets would fall by a score of 1-0. With the loss, Capital drops to 8-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, Otterbein sees their record rise to 8-6-2 overall and 4-2-1 in conference.
As to be expected in a rivalry game with both teams vying for the top spot in the conference standings, it would be very evenly matched. Capital would record just two more total shots, finishing with 14 in comparison to Otterbein's 12.
The Comets did a great job finding the target, as nine of their shots would be on goal. However, great goalkeeper play from the Cardinals would shut down every chance faced.
Sophomore's
Taylor Duff and
Kasey Duke would both finish with two shots each, joined by
Taylor Marcum and
Sofia Walton who also would end with two.
After the early goal, goalkeeper
Liv Alford would dig in and shut down the remaining four shots on goal from the Cardinals.
