COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match-up with Ohio Northern University. The Comets would be in the driver's seat all game, taking a 3-0 victory. This marks the largest margin of victory against Ohio Northern in program history. With the win, Capital moves to 7-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, Ohio Northern falls to 4-7-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference.
After a quiet first 30 minutes of play,
Sofia Walton would find the back of the net and get the Comets on the board. Just six minutes later, Capital would double their lead with a goal from
Lizzie Elliott. Setting up the goal with a pretty pass was
Kendra Kovacs, as the sophomore recorded her second assist of the season.
The game would remain scoreless until the 70th minute, when
Sofia Walton would once again put one home. This score would come on a free kick, as the junior, who primarily saw time at goalkeeper in her first two seasons, tucked one just inside the left post for her second goal of the day. For Walton, she has earned the first multi-goal game in her career.
Standing out for the Capital offense was
Lizzie Elliott, who added an assist to go along with her first half goal.
Standing tall in between the posts was keeper
Liv Alford, who shut down the two shot on goal attempts from the Polar Bears. The Dublin, Ohio native now has six shutouts on the season and 17 in her career.
