MARIETTA, Ohio - The Capital University women's soccer traveled to Marietta to face off against the Pioneers in an OAC match-up on Wednesday night. The Comets were able to control the ball for most of the game, but despite some solid opportunities, neither team was able to find the back of the net, leading to a 0-0 draw. Capital's record is now 6-4-2 (1-1-1 in OAC play). The draw gives Marietta their seventh tie of the year, leading to a record of 3-4-7 (0-1-3 in OAC play).
There was a lot of back and forth action in the first half, as both teams were trying to find their rhythm.
Liv Alford came up big for the Comets in the first half, with two impressive saves, one in the 8th minute and the other in the 23rd minute. Capital had some scoring opportunities of their own, and despite a near miss in the final minute, both teams were scoreless going into halftime.
Capital controlled the ball for almost the entire second half, garnering many good looks. The Purple and White put 10 shots on goal, keeping the pressure on the Marietta defense but it wasn't enough to break through. Lizzie Elliot was able to get off a shot for the Comets in the final minute of play, but Marietta's defense was able to block it as the clock ran down. This led to what ended up being a 0-0 tie.
Liv Alford completed the shutout with four saves, stopping everything that came her way.

Capital University women's soccer will host the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears in an OAC matchup this Saturday, October 18. The match is set to start at 1:00 pm.
