BEREA, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team got the first basket of the game on a layup from
Justin Nixon, but from there fell behind to Baldwin Wallace enroute to an eventual 79-65 loss on the road.
The result brings Capital's record to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. BW improves to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The story of the game proved to be field goal shooting as the hosts converted 53% of their shots, while the Comets managed to convert just 36% from the floor. A detrimental 11-3 run in the first five minutes of the first half proved costly for Cap as they could not recover from the deficit over the next 35 minutes of gameplay.
THE NUMBERS
Dom Moegerle led the team in scoring with 16 points on 50% shooting. He narrowly missed out on a double-double as he finished as the team's highest rebounder with nine boards.
Alex Eyink scored 12 points to go with five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Justin Nixon was the other Comet in double-digits, finishing with 10 points, three rebounds and an assist.
The Comets were the better rebounders in the game, with 42 boards compared to 32 from BW.
Daryl Cooper and
Brody Gowen each had five, while
Eljae Deas,
McKane Finkenbine and
Se'Ron Calloway-White each had three to help the effort.
Finkenbine was the leading assist-man, finishing with six helpers.

Capital will take to the road on Wednesday, January 8th as they head to New Concord, Ohio to take on Muskingum University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
