NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team ventured east to Muskingum University on Wednesday night where they ultimately fell 90-79 at the final horn. The loss drops Capital back to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Muskingum is 6-6 (4-1 OAC).
The story of the game proved to be a halftime adjustment by the Muskies that proved detrimental for the Comets who were maintaining a 39-32 halftime advantage. In the fateful second half, the hosts flipped the scoreboard on the heels of 56% shooting and 17 free throws en route to their comeback win.
All-in-all Capital shot the ball well, including a sharp 41% from 3-point land, but the effort was not enough in the end.
THE NUMBERS
McKane Finkenbine led Capital with a season-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, which included four 3-pointers. He also added six assists, two rebounds and three steals.
Justin Nixon and
Daryl Cooper each scored a dozen points to support the Comet scoring effort. Nixon narrowly missed a double-double as he finished as the team's leading rebounder with nine boards. Cooper added three boards and a pair of steals.
Dom Moegerle finished with nine points and eight rebounds with three assists.
Eljae Deas netted seven points off the bench, with
Ryan Suever,
Brody Gowen,
Matt O'Donnell,
Alex Eyink, and
Se'Ron Calloway-White also hitting the scoresheet.

Capital will return home to The Capital Center on Saturday, January 11th for a 3 p.m. tip-off. THe game will begin at 3:00 or 30-minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 1:00 p.m. The Comets will host John Carroll University – a side who is currently receiving votes in the D3hoops.com polls.
