Men’s Lacrosse Loses Double-OT Thriller to Baldwin Wallace

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (4-7, 3-1 OAC) hosted Baldwin Wallace (4-6, 3-1 OAC) in what would end up being a double-overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon, ultimately ending with BW getting the better of the Comets, 10-9.

The game started as one should expect from these two teams, tightly contested and remaining tied at the end of the first quarter, 2-2. Gino Nave and Mason Spaulding were the ones to get CU on the board in the first period. The Purple and White would then go on to take a three-goal lead before the half, outscoring the Yellow Jackets 5-2 in the second quarter. Three of the five came courtesy of Spaulding, with Jake Belt and Jacob Poole picking up the other two, making it a 7-4 game heading into the break.

Baldwin Wallace would make it a one-goal game in the third quarter with four scores as opposed to Capital's two. Again it was Spaulding scoring, this time being joined by Ty Chase to take the score to 9-8. Unfortunately, those would be the last two goals of the day for the Comets as BW tied it up at 9-9 in the fourth, and went on to win the game in the second five-minute sudden death overtime period, 10-9.

SENIOR DAY
The last Saturday home game of the regular season also marked senior day for the Comets as seniors Austin Yanichko, Mason Spaulding, Martin Browder, and Drew Bolen, as well as graduate students Nathan Montgomery, James Howenstine, Aiden Manning, and Jake Belt were honored during a pregame ceremony.

THE NUMBERS
