COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team (5-7, 4-1 OAC) welcomed Wilmington (4-9, 0-5 OAC) to town on Wednesday night, making history as the Comets recorded the second shutout in the team's history. The last time Cap kept an opponent scoreless was in the program's first year, against Defiance on March 18, 2014, 15-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Comets all night long as the Capital offense could not be stopped, scoring 25 unanswered on the way to a 25-0 shutout of the Quakers. CU would get off to a hot start, scoring 11 in the first quarter courtesy of

Freddy Noday,
Jake Belt, and
Anthony Carusone. The scoring slowed a bit in the second quarter with Cap only adding four to their total, coming from
Logan Telesz, Belt, Poole, and Spaulding to make it 15-0 at the half.
The Purple and White would go on to get an additional 10 goals in the second half as more and more Comets got in on the action. It started with
Tyler Lieu taking the opening faceoff straight to the cage for his first career goal, scoring within seven seconds of the start of the third quarter. He was joined by
Martin Browder with two terrific goals and
Colton Woods with his first career goal as well, with Chase and Telesz tallying the last two. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Capital put in four to finish out the game as
Ian Zaletel netted the first of his career, with Telesz,
Nathan Montgomery, and
Max Schillig making up the other three to take it to 25-0.
THE NUMBERS
Mason Spaulding (4 G, 2 A),
Ty Chase (3 G, 3 A), and
Jake Belt (2 G, 4 A) tied for the team-best in points as six apiece. Spaulding also picked up five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Chase and Belt grabbed a GB each.
Logan Telesz tallied his first career hat trick with three goals on the night, adding one assist for four points, as well as career-highs in ground balls (3) and caused turnovers (3).
Jacob Poole also put in three goals, totaling three points and adding three ground balls.
Martin Browder buried two goals for two points, also grabbing a ground ball.

Aaron Waltman adding one assist each. Lieu, Woods, and Zaletel found the net for the first time in their young careers.
Noday and Lieu split the brunt of the faceoff duties, with
Jayden Walter also taking a few. Lieu led the night in faceoff percentage going 11-for-12 with five ground balls. Noday notched a 10-of-13 total with eight ground balls. Walter won 3-of-4.

Luc Kadlic (5-7) became the first Capital goalkeeper to record a complete-game shutout, as the only other shutout in program history came via a combination of three keepers. He made five saves and picked up three ground balls in what was also his first career clean sheet.
