ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University softball team faced one of the best teams in the region on Monday afternoon, falling in back-to-back shutouts on the road at Mount Union. The results finished 7-0 and 8-0 in favor of the 27-4 Purple Raiders. Capital is now 10-12 on the year.
In the first game, Capital got an early hit from
Autumn Bridges, but could not gather much momentum after that. From then on,
Emma Gant and
McKenzie Kennedy would collect hits, with Kennedy's come via a double, but the Comets offense could not muster a run.
Megan Mlinaric threw a strong game, striking out six Purple Raiders, but Mount's offense was able to collect 15 hits en route to their seven runs (six earned).
The second game went much of the same way as the first did for Capital, but this time, the team only tallied two hits – one each from
Autumn Bridges and
Emma Gant.
This time,
Krislyn Bayles started in the circle and went the full four innings of work, conceding eight hits and eight runs (five earned) in the outing.

Capital will look to regroup with a non-conference doubleheader with Bethany College on Wednesday, April 24th. These games are slated to start at 3 and 5 p.m. Additionally, these games will be played at Lou Berliner Sports Park on Field #25.
