ADA, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team ran into a pitching buzzsaw today as the team collected just three hits in a doubleheader shutout at Ohio Northern. The Polar Bears won the games via 11-0 and 6-0 scores.
The results make Capital 8-23 overall (2-12 OAC) and Ohio Northern 17-14 on the year (8-6 OAC).
In game one, Capital's lone base hit came courtesy of
Cole Boroff as Ohio Northern's Blake Altaffer hurled a nine innings one-hit shutout.
Trevor Woodyard,
Ethan Pollack,
Logan Detty,
Adam Frump and
Colin Boldin combined for the pitching in game one.
In the nightcap, Ohio Northern again benefitted from a pitching masterclass as three Polar Bears combined for a two-hit, three-walk shutout.
Scott Moats and
Robby Harrison accounted for the two Capital hits, while
Kielan LaMarr, Moats, and
Jared Carpenter drew walks in the game.
