SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team made up a postponed road trip to Wittenberg University on Monday evening, falling 5-1 to the host Tigers.
The loss sets Capital back to 7-20 overall while Witt is now 15-12.
The hosts got a head start, scoring two in the bottom of the second inning before Cap answered with a run of their own in the top of the third.
In that frame,
Kielan LaMarr reached base via an error and then spirited home on an RBI double to right from
Robby Harrison.
The hosts then added two runs in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the sixth to seal the final score 5-1.
In the end, Cap was held to just five hits – two from LaMarr and one each from Harrison, Michael Andryszcyzk and
Jared Carpenter.
Ben Mohler started on the mound and was credited with the loss after tossing four innings and conceding five hits, four runs and four walks, all while striking out three.
Drew Pfundt and
Ethan Pollack each tossed two innings in relief with Pollack recording two strikeouts.
