Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Swept by Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team went to Otterbein on Friday afternoon where they were upended by scores of 16-2 and 23-4.

Capital now sits 6-14 overall and 0-4 in the OAC, while Otterbein is 18-5, 4-0 OAC on the year.

In game one, Otterbein got on the board early and never looked back, scoring four in the first inning.

Cap responded with an RBI double from Ryne McKinney in the top of the third, but the hosts added insurance in the third and fourth innings.

With the game still in reach, Robby Harrison homered to right field in the top of the eighth inning, bringing the score of 7-2. Unfortunately, that would be it for the Comets' offense as Otterbein would go on to score nine more runs in the game.

McKinney and Harrison (2) were the only Comets to collect hits in the game, with Cole Boroff earning a walk.

Noah Bromberg (0-4) started game one on the hill and struggled with command early, walking four batters and allowing just one hit in the first inning before seeing his day end. Landon Kim, Logan Detty and Brian Young ate up the majority of the game in relief.

In game two, much of the same continued as Otterbein grabbed an early lead and never looked back.

Trailing 7-0, the first Comet run came as Daylan Barnes scored on a balk in the top of the third.

An inning later, Michael Andryszczyk reached on a fielder's choice, bringing home Connor Feeney

Capital's final two runs came in the top of the sixth as Barnes ripped a two-RBI single up the middle to score Andryszczyk and Ben Stevens

From there, it was all Cardinals as the game closed out.

Tyler Sickles (2-3) wound up with the loss in his start that saw him allow three hits, four walks and seven runs. He was relieved by a combination of Tyler Bebout, Trevor Woodyard, Ben Mohler, Casey Wilkins, Kyle Bowles, Drew Pfundt, and Adam Frump. Both Pfundt and Frump each struckout two Cards in their time on the mound. Pfundt's appearance marked his collegiate debut on the hill.
