DANVILLE, Ky. – The Capital University baseball team struck for three runs in the top of the third inning and held a shutout until the bottom of the sixth before surrendering the game by a final score of 7-3 to the hosts, Centre College.
Capital, who is now 0-3 to start the year, collected five hits on the day, two of which came from first baseman
Connor Feeney.
Cade Anderson,
Ryne McKinney, and
Arnulfo Gonzalez each account for one hit each. Gonzalez's lone hit came as a two-RBI double in the third.
Daylan Barnes,
Kielan LaMarr and
Cole Boroff (2) each drew walks as well. LaMarr's walk came with the bases loaded in the third inning, thus yielding the sophomore an RBI.
On the mound,
Tyler Sickles got the start and pitched five shutout innings before a difficult sixth inning ensued. Sickles ended with 5.2 innings pitched, two strikeouts, and seven hits, six runs (five earned) surrendered.
Tyler Bebout made his collegiate debut in relief, tossing 1.1 innings and conceding just one hit to go with two strikeouts.
Adam Frump finished the final inning, allowing a pair of hits with one strikeout.
