UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Capital University Men's basketball team was unable to finish the job after being up at the end of the first half against the #1 ranked Blue Streaks of John Carroll. This road loss marks the end of the regular season for the Comets, however, Capital has clinched a spot in the OAC tournament and their season will continue.
The road loss drops Capital to 16-9 overall and 10-8 in the conference. The win propels the #1 ranked John Carroll to 23-2 overall and 17-1 in the OAC. John Carroll is the confirmed #1 seed in the OAC tournament as well as the #1 ranked team in the country.
The Comets came out to a hot start in the first half, going up 8-2 and forcing the Blue Streaks to call a timeout. Capital was dominant for most of the first half, led by a monstrous 14 points and 10 rebounds from
Baden Forup. Both teams played impressive defense, with Capital able to get more clean looks throughout the first half. Despite leading by as much as 10 points, the Comets allowed John Carroll to sneak back into the contest. This led to a halftime score of 26-25 with Capital on top.
In the second half, it seemed that the roles were completely reversed. Capital wasn't able to get nearly as many clean shot opportunities, and John Carroll was able to score pretty much at will. The pressure of the Blue Streak's press started to affect the Comets, forcing turnovers and turning them into points. Capital was dominant on the glass, out rebounding John Carroll 42-30. The hard fought effort by the Comets wasn't enough, leading to a final score of 74-54 in favor of the Blue Streaks.

Baden Forup finished with a double-double yielding 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Dom Moegerle had an impactful 6 points and 7 boards.
Carter Combs saw the floor well, garnering 5 assists as well as reeling in 4 rebounds.
Justin Nixon finished the game with 2 blocks, leading the Comets.

Capital will play in the OAC quarterfinals on February 20 on the road at No. 3 seeded Heidelberg University. Tipoff will most likely be 7 p.m.
