Football Loses Difficult Game vs. No. 4 Mount Union

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University football team suffered a 54-0 shutout at the hands of No. 4 ranked Mount Union on Saturday afternoon. With the result, Capital is now 0-8 while Mount improves to 8-0.

The Comets held strong early, trailing by just a touchdown at the end of the first quarter, but a Mount safety to start the second quarter led to an avalanche of scoring the rest of the way.

The Comets defense  was able to force the Purple Raiders into four fumbles on the day, recovering two of them. First, the Purple Raider quarterback fumbled a snap, resulting in an AJ Conti recovery, then, Bryson Roberts stripped the Raider running back a few drives later, resulting in an Owen Beatty recovery. The other two fumbles resulted in Mount recoveries for a loss of yards.
