COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University bowling team took a short trip across town to compete in the program's inaugural competition by taking part in the Ohio Bowling Conference's first tournament of the season.
The competition was a university first for Capital as the team was just recently formed in January of 2024. Capital was the only start-up program competing in today's competition.
As a team, the Comet men placed 16th out of 17 programs, while the women placed 16th out of 16 teams. The men compiled 4,319 pins, while the women scored 3,378 pins as a group. Ohio State won the men's event with 5,752 pins, while Muskingum won the women's event with 4,959 pins.

Lance Gordon emphasized the importance of improving from competition to competition, saying "With a new team, we are looking for our next competition to be better than today as we continue to improve and lay the foundation for our program in its first season. I am proud of the group's effort today and look forward to our next competition."
MEN
Baylee Becker led the team with a 40th overall placement. He scored 737 over the four-game series, averaging 184. His high score of the day registered 193.
Carlos Patterson was next for Cap, placing 47th with a four-game total of 672, an average of 168 per game. His high game was 177.
Jordan Hull finished tied for 54th with a total score of 600 (150 average). His high score was a 182.
Nicholas Wines finished 62nd with a total score of 550. His four-game average was 137, with his high score marking 170.
Chase Young scored a total score of 534, placing 65th with an average score of 133. His high score was 153.
WOMEN
Sadie Bassitt was the top placer for Capital, scoring a total score of 614, good for 35th overall. Her average score was 153, supported by a high score of 178.
Cassidi Johnson was next for Cap, placing 49th with a four-game score of 549 (137 average). Her high score was a 143.
Trisha Lennex scored 417 over the four games, placing 71st. Her average was 104 supported by a high score of 127.
Tara Hall was next, finishing 72nd with 412 total pins. Her average score was 103, and her high score was 114.
Kennedy Marshall placed 74th thanks to a four-game score of 373. Her average of 93 was supported by a high score of 104.

The Comet bowling team will now sit idle for two weeks, gearing up for the OBC's second tournament of the year to be held at the Columbus Bowling Palace on October 19th.
