COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team (5-8-3, 3-2-2 OAC) faced off with rival Otterbein (8-4-4, 3-2-2 OAC) on Saturday in the 2024 rendition of the Battle for the Oar. Unfortunately, the oar will stay in Westerville after the Cardinals defeated the Comets in a one-score game, 1-0.
The only goal of the game came in the 63rd minute when an errant cross from Otterbein's Cami McCulty snuck through to the back side of the box and found the foot of Lauren Alley for the score.
Cap put forth plenty of chances, leading the shot margin 14-11. However, of the five attempts that found their target, none were good enough to get past the keeper.
Ryanne Michel led the attack with two shots on goal, taking three shots total.
Avery Hart had four shots, only one of which found its mark.
Bella Leonetti and
Nicole Ogden each put one on goal. Leonetti took two total.
