COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team faced their toughest test of the season, hosting No. 7 ranked John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon. Despite keeping a close game to halftime, the Comets eventually succumbed to the Blue Streaks by a final score of 86-66.
Capital slips to 9-4 overall and 3-3 in the OAC, while JCU improves to 12-1 on the year and 6-0 in the OAC. The loss for the Comets marked their first of the season on their home floor. Cap is now 5-1 at The Capital Center.
The Comets converted their shots at a 47% clip across the game, including a 55% mark in the first half. The achilles heel for Cap was their 3-point effort as they converted just 4-of-20 shots from range.
At the end of the game, freshman
Baden Forup led the Comets with 15 points thanks to 70% shooting. He added eight rebounds, an assist and a steal.
McKane Finkenbine and
Nate Gerber each knocked down nine points. Finkenbine added a rebound, two assists and a steal, while Gerber contributed three boards and an assist.
Dom Moegerle had a solid game off the bench, finishing with eight points and seven boards to go with an assist and a steal.
Alex Eyink secured a team-high four assists to go with his four points, two rebounds and one block.
