WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team started slowly inside a raucous environment on the road at Otterbein University, eventually falling by a final score of 75-58.
The loss drops Capital to 10-7 overall and 4-6 in the conference. Otterbein improves to 11-6 on the year and 5-5 in the OAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets struggled from the floor in the first half netting just 4-of-22 attempts in the first 20 minutes. Five of Capital's 15 first-half points came from the free throw line. On the other end of the floor, the Cards knocked down 45.5% of their first half attempts en route to scoring their 34 points.
In the second half, Capital came out of the gates looking to get back into the game right away. First,
McKane Finkenbine knocked down two technical foul free throws before
Dom Moegerle,
Ryan Suever and Finkenbine all nailed shots, starting Cap on a 10-0 run.
Despite the hot start, once Otterbein got their first bucket, both teams traded made shots for much of the remainder of the game.
By the final horn, the Cardinals held the advantage on the scoreboard, 75-58.
THE NUMBERS
Dom Moegerle led Capital with 13 points to go with four rebounds, one assist, and a block.
McKane Finkenbine finished with 11 points along with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Ryan Suever ended with nine points, three rebounds and a block.
Baden Forup scored eight points to go with his three rebounds and one assist.
Carter Combs was the team leader in rebounds (6) and assists (3) while he also added five points and one block.
