COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team (2-3) fell at the hands of Ohio Wesleyan (4-1) on Wednesday night in four sets (20-25, 25-20, 21-25, 19-25). Despite the loss, the Comets played well, taking a set from the Battling Bishops and scoring in the 20s in two of the three sets they lost, with a 19 in the other.
The story of the game proved to be attacking efficiency as both teams attacked 141 times. OWU landed 52 kills and just 19 errors for a .234 hitting percentage, while the Comets swung just 40 kills and 25 errors for a .106 percentage.
THE NUMBERS
Abby Brunner led the defensive front with 26 digs, joined by
Haley Ernest (9) and
Bryn Whitmer (9).
Bryn Whitmer was the main setter once again, clocking 29 assists.
On the attack it was
Alissa Holler and
Lindsay Rich leading the way, each with 10 kills.
Larissa Smith (8) rounded out the top three.
Smith served up four aces, while Brunner sent three aces over the net.
Samaree Perkins led the front line with three blocks, while Smith and
Simone Daniel each had two swats.

The Comets head into a busy weekend starting Friday as they host the 2023 Pam Briggs Classic at The Capital Center. Capital will welcome Bethany, Hanover, Earlham, and Otterbein to campus, facing off first with Bethany at 6 p.m. on Friday. CU will see Hanover and Earlham on Saturday.
