Women’s Soccer Outscored on the Road

HANOVER, Ind. – The Capital University women's soccer team (4-3-1) was on the road at Hanover (4-1-3) on Saturday afternoon. Despite goals from Lexi Snider and Lizzie Elliott, the Comets would come up short, 4-2.

Hanover got on the board first in the 23rd minute, quickly followed by an answer from Capital just a minute later. Snider was the one to score, taking a pass from Nicole Ogden and sending it soaring into the top right corner of the goal to tie the game at 1-1.

The remaining four goals of the game would all be scored within the first 15 minutes of the second half. Hanover put in two in the 53rd and 56th minutes, again followed by a quick answer from CU. This time it was Lizzie Elliott with the goal, grabbing ahold of a failed clearance and putting it in the back of the net to make it 3-2 in the 57th minute. Unfortunately for the Comets, Hanover would net another in the 60th minute to make it a 4-2, where the game would stay until the final whistle.

Snider's goal was her fourth of the season, putting her tied with Sophia Leonetti for second on the team. Elliott's was her first of the year. Ogdens assist was her fourth of the season, putting her in sole possession of the team-lead.

Capital played all three keepers. Liv Alford got the start and played the first 45 minutes, making four saves. Sofia Walton subbed in at halftime, playing 33 minutes. She is credited with the loss (1-1-0). Finally, Lauren Hinshaw came in to play the final 12 minutes, making one save.
