UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team squared up with John Carroll University on Saturday, April 8th and were upended in both games, 14-0 and 10-2.
The Comets overall record dropped back to 6-16 (0-6 OAC), while JCU improved to 17-6 (6-0 OAC).
The first game was tough for the Comets as they ran into the pitching masterclass of Matt Aukerman. The big right-hander for the Blue Streaks threw a complete game no-hitter on the mound. His only two blemishes on the day were a pair of walks to
Tristan Burns. He also struck out six Capital hitters in the historic performance. Per JCU sports information, the no-hitter was just the third in the 50-year history of their baseball program.
The second game of the day was slightly better for Cap as they went ahead 2-0 by the second inning.
In the first inning,
Cade Anderson doubled and was followed by a walk from
EJ Santana.
Ty Clifton's RBI single delivered as Anderson scored with two outs on the board.
In the second inning,
Logan White singled and was moved around as
Kielan LaMarr reached on an error and
Hunter Wilson beat out an infield single to load the bases. There,
Cade Anderson hit a sac fly that scored White.
Unfortunately for the Comets that would be the last of their offensive pressure as JCU would respond with 10 unanswered runs to claim the game 10-2.
