WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team put together one of the program's best ever OAC Championship performances this weekend, golfing their way to second place overall with a four-round score of 1,192 strokes.
Capital also finished second at the OAC Championships in 2014-15, but scored a 1,202 that year, making this a 10-stroke improvement over the program's best finish at the OAC Championships since the 72-hole, five-player format began in 2011.
Leading the way individually for Capital was senior
Angelo Donato who finished the four rounds in a tie for first overall with Otterbein's Ian Johnston and Muskingum's Cameron Henry. In the final round, Donato was sitting even heading to the 18th hole, two strokes off the top spot. When needed most, Donato nailed an eagle hitting the 537 yard, par-5 hole in just three strokes to work his way into the tie for the top spot overall. The eagle was Donato's second of the weekend as he also hit one on the 505 yard, par-5 eighth hole in the second round.
The three-way tie then set up playoff golf to determine the Individual Medalist where Angelo prevailed on the fourth hole. With the win, Donato became Capital's third ever OAC Tournament medalist and the first since 1983. Donato joins Bill Stebelton (1983) and Kenneth Weixel (1980) as the only other Capital golfers to win OAC medalist honors.
On the weekend, Donato shot scores of 78, 68, 73 and 70 to combine for a 289. His score of 68 in round two was tied with Henry as the lowest individual score of the tournament. Henry shot his 68 in the fourth round.
Ben Satterthwaite was Capital's second finisher, placing in the All-OAC position of T-12th. Satterthwaite shot rounds of 74, 76, 72 and 77 to combine for a four-round total of 299. The All-OAC finish was Satterthwaite's second of his career after he finished fifth in 2021.
Jack Curtis narrowly missed out on an All-OAC spot, placing 17th with a total score of 303. Curtis shot rounds of 74, 74, 80 and 75 to make up his total score.

The compiled team score of 1,192 for Capital was made up of round totals of 304, 295, 293, and 300.
