Baseball Downed by No. 4 BW

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team hosted their second of two doubleheaders at Huntington Park in downtown Columbus this season on Thursday afternoon, falling in both games to the No. 4 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets. Huntington Park is known as one of the premier minor league ballparks in the country and houses the Columbus Clippers, the AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. 

The Yellow Jackets took game one 18-4 in seven innings befores responding with a 9-2 win in game two. The pair of losses sets Capital back to 6-28 overall and 0-16 in the conference. BW on the other hand improved to 29-6 (14-2 OAC) and clinched at least a share of the OAC Championship today. 

Across the two games, Capital collected 16 hits, but only managed to plate a combined six runs. Game one saw two-hit performances from Logan White, Christopher Rockwell, EJ Santana, and Ryne McKinney, while Tristan Burns was the only player with two hits in game two. RBIs came from EJ Santana (2), Hunter Wilson, and Ty Clifton (2). 

In game one, Noah Bromberg started and hurled five full innings. He allowed nine hits, seven runs and five walks while striking out one. He was relieved by Casey Wilkisn, Adam Frump, Connor Jones, Andrew Beck and Daniel Collier

Game two was started by Tyler Sickles who tossed seven full innings while scattering seven hits, six runs (five earned), and for walks. He also struck out four hitters. Trevor Woodyard, Spencer Knight, and Garrett Montgomery picked up the relief efforts. 

The Comets will finish out their season with a road doubleheader next Thursday, May 4th as they travel to No. 14 ranked Marietta College for an evening doubleheader at 4 and 7 p.m.
