ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team headed north to take on Mount Union on Saturday afternoon, dropping the pair of games 16-3 and 7-1.
Capital now sits at 6-20 overall, while Mount is 18-9 on the season.
In game one, runs were scored thanks to a solo run in the fourth and a pair in the seventh. In the fourth,
Christopher Rockwell kept his bat hot, lining a double to right center that scored
Logan White. In the seventh,
Ryne McKinney blasted a two-run home run that also scored
EJ Santana.
Ethan Pollack took the ball as the starting pitcher and lasted three innings while being slated with the loss on five hits, five walks, eight runs (four earned), and a pair of strikeouts.
He was followed by relievers
Aaron Olech (3 IP, 2 H, 2 BB),
Gavin Vanhorn (0.1 IP, 4 ER),
Ben Hatfield (1 IP, 4 ER), and
Kaleb Stafford (0.2 IP).
In the second game, Capital's only run came across in the top of the ninth as
Cade Anderson singled home
Hunter Wilson.
Noah Bromberg pitched the first four innings and did well, but eventually conceded seven hits, five runs, a pair of walks and struck out four.
Brennan Newell (2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER),
Connor Jones (1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER,1 K), and
Spencer Knight (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) picked up the relief.
