Baseball Outplayed on the Road

HIRAM, Ohio – The Capital University baseball team traveled to the campus of Hiram College on Thursday afternoon for the second contest of a non-conference home-and-home series with the Terriers. It would be Hiram taking game two and the series with a 18-7 scoreline.

Capital falls to 4-11. Hiram moves to 9-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hiram got on the board first, scoring one in the bottom of the first inning. Capital took the lead in the third inning, putting up two runs. The first came via a Hunter Wilson single to knock in Kielan LaMarr. Tristan Burns then brought in Reagan Burch on a productive groundout. Unfortunately for the Comets, Hiram responded by piling on nine runs in the bottom half of the inning. It wouldn't be until the sixth when Capital crossed the plate again, this time it was Burns coming around to score on a double by EJ Santana. The Terriers scored three more in the bottom of the sixth. The seventh inning was the Comets' big inning, plating four. First Burns singled to left, bringing in Burch. Christopher Rockwell followed with a single to center that scored both Burns and Wilson. Finally, Logan White plated Rockwell on a productive groundout. Hiram added five more runs in the seventh and eighth to bring the final scoreline to 18-7.
