Men’s Golf Wins OAC Spring Preview; Second at Muskie Spring Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team put together a solid weekend of events, playing at the OAC Spring Preview on Sunday and then going to the Muskie Spring Invite on Monday. 

The Comets won the Spring Preview before coming in at runner-ups for the Muskingum event. 

OAC SPRING PREVIEW
The Comets emerged atop of all the OAC schools this past Sunday, winning the event by one stroke over Otterbein. Capital's "A" team shot an 18-hole score of 291 – a season-low team score in one round. The score pegs in as the fourth lowest 18-hole team score in program history. 

Leading the way for Capital was Angelo Donato who earned the individual medalist honor after shooting a four under par score of 68. This individual win marks the third of Donato's senior season. 

He was followed up by Vince Daher (74), Ben Satterthwaite (74), Jack Curtis (75) and Adam Murphy (79). 

The "B" squad finished fourth out of the 12 teams that showed and entered competitors. Their 18-hole score was submitted as 304, led by Ricky Walsh and Colin Frimel who each shot a 74. Shane Murphy scored a 76, while Adam Czerniakowski scored an 80. Aidan Isaac rounded out the performances with a 84. 

MUSKIE SPRING INVITE
The Capital "B" team finished second overall in the event after carding a score of 312. Colin Frimel tied for the individual top spot and earned the medalist honor with a playoff hole victory over Otterbein's Coury Rogers. Both players shot a 72 on the 18-hole course. 

Joining Frimel on the second place team were Shane Murphy, Aidan Isaac, Ricky Walsh and Ryan Murphy. S. Murphy placed fourth with a 75, while Isaac was T-17th with an 80. Walsh and R. Murphy both finished in a tie for 30th after shooting 85 each. 

The Comet "A" team placed fifth out of eight teams in the event with a score of 317. Jack Curtis paced the squad with a 78 (T-9th). Vince Daher placed T-12th with a 79, while Ben Satterthwaite (79), Adam Murphy (81) and Angelo Donato (85) rounded out the team scoring. 

UP NEXT
Capital will play a Ryder Cup style head-to-head with Otterbein next Monday, April 3rd at a site still to be determined as of this moment.
