COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team fell 3-0 on Saturday afternoon to the No. 24 ranked Ohio Northern University Polar Bears.
The result pushes Capital back to 6-13 (0-3 OAC) and lifts ONU to 12-5 (2-1).
The Comets hung with the Polar Bears through the first set, ultimately falling 25-21. Despite the positive first stanza, Capital fell 25-16 and 25-15 in the final two sets.
Overall, Capital hit just a shy of .100 in the match, landing just 29 kills in the match.
Leading the offensive side of the match for Capital was the usual three – LIndsay Rich (8 kills),
Simone Daniel (7 kills), and
Larissa Smith (6 kills).
Setting up the offense was
Bryn Whitmer who dished out a game-high 27 assists. She added five digs, two aces and two block assists.
Abby Brunner led the back row and all players with 23 digs in the match.
Olivia Spillers and
Kenadee Winters each chipped in seven scoops.
Joining Whitmer in the ace category was
Michaela Recker and Daniel with one each.
At the net,
Larissa Smith totaled four blocks and was joined by Whitmer's two and one from
Alissa Holler,
Simone Daniel and
Samaree Perkins.
