NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team took the short drive east to battle Muskingum University on Wednesday night. There, the Comets fell 3-0 via scores of 16-25, 14-25, 18-25.
As a whole, the Muskies, who now sit 5-14 (2-2 OAC) dominated all statistical categories of the game as the Comets (6-14, 0-4) had a lackluster night in terms of positive stats.
A highlight of the night was the play of
Samaree Perkins who had a career night offensively. She hit a new personal best and team-high eight kills in the match, good for a positive .200 hitting percentage. She added two blocks to her output as well, good for a personal best matching 9.5 points as well.
Supporting the attack were
Lindsay Rich (four kills),
Alissa Holler (six kills), and
Ryann Bunyak (four kills).
Bryn Whitmer,
Olivia Spillers and
Larissa Smith added one kill each.
Bryn Whitmer set up 19 assists while also adding four digs and two blocks.
Defensively,
Abby Brunner led the back row with 11 digs. She was followed by
Olivia Spillers with nine,
Kenadee Winters with five and
Michaela Recker with four.
Brunner and Smith landed the lone aces for the Comets.
