COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team once again came out of the gates strong, winning the first set, but fell 3-1 at the end.
Wilmington (8-8, 1-1 OAC) took the sets 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-17. Capital now rests at 6-12 overall with an 0-2 OAC mark.
For Capital, the Comets landed 54 kills, led by big outings from
Lindsay Rich and
Larissa Smith. Rich tied her career-high with 19 kills, while Smith landed a new career-high with 15 kills.
Simone Daniel added eight kills, supported by seven from
Alissa Holler.
Bryn Whitmer set up a new career-best in assists with 45 helpers. Whitmer also had a career-best in digs with 13.
Leading the back row was
Abby Brunner with 17 digs.
Michaela Recker also hit double digits with 10 scoops.
At the net,
Larissa Smith had three solo blocks and three block assists, while
Simone Daniel,
Samaree Perkins, and Whitmer accounted for the other blocking.
At the service line, Capital served up six aces – three from Recker, two from Brunner and one from Smith.
