Women’s Soccer Rescues Dramatic 2-2 Draw at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team scored two goals in the final 5:16 of the game to rescue a 2-2 draw at Baldwin Wallace University.

The Comets end the regular season with an overall record of 10-6-3 and a conference mark of 5-2-2. BW ended the regular season with a record of 8-8-2 and 4-4-1 in the OAC.

Tonight's game served as a tune-up for the eventual Tuesday night match-up as Baldwin Wallace, the OAC's fifth seed, will travel to Columbus to take on Capital, the OAC's fourth seed, in the first round of the OAC Tournament.

BW grabbed the 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute as Sydney Rice controlled the ball and swiveled a sharp right-footed shot past Sofia Walton in the Comet goal.

The Comets leveled the score in the 85th minute on Ryanne Michel's first career goal. Michel took the ball up the right side and lashed a shot across goal that caught a deflection and whipped into the goal.

The leveled score lasted just under four minutes as Cap's Haley Moore was whistled for a foul inside the penalty area in the 89th minute, thus resulting in a penalty kick for the Yellow Jackets. BW's Ella Barth converted the kick and put the hosts back in front with just about two minutes left in the game.

Despite falling behind, the Comets did not waiver and like last year's regular season match-up, responded with a late, late goal tying the game at 2-2. Sophia Leonetti won the ball in the midfield and slid a pass to the cutting Lexi Snider who took one touch and drilled a left-footed shot into the lower right corner of the net. The goal came with just 35 seconds left in the match, leading to a final score of 2-2. The goal for Snider was the 12th of her season and 21st of her career. She sits just one goal behind Estes for the team-lead this season.

Liv Alford ended the match with one save across the first 45 minutes. Sofia Walton played the second 45 and did not record a save. Katie Scott made eight saves for BW.
