Women’s Soccer Season Concludes in PKs

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team (10-6-4, 5-2-2 OAC) welcomed Baldwin Wallace (8-8-3, 4-4-1 OAC) to Bernlohr Stadium on Tuesday night for the first round of the 2023 OAC Women's Soccer Tournament. In what always seems to be a game that comes down to the wire, neither the regular 90 minutes nor an additional 20 minutes of overtime were enough to separate the two squads, calling for penalty kicks.

Going along with the theme of the night, the first five attempts for each team were not enough to settle the score, both sides going 4-for-5. The Comets had hope when the sixth BW shot sailed over the crossbar, but their dreams were dashed when Francesca Longano's ensuing attempt was stopped with a diving save. Baldwin Wallace would score their seventh shot and advance as Lizzie Elliott's equalizing attempt struck the crossbar.

Capital put up 39 shots, led by Lexi Snider with nine and Grace Estes with eight. Of those 39, only 10 were on frame, and none were able to find the back of the net.

Liv Alford spent the entire evening in goal for Capital, making four saves. Her final record for the season is 9-5-3.

WHAT'S NEXT
Lexi Snider, Tori Kittrell, Haley Moore, and Sophia Leonetti have played their final game for the Purple and White and will look forward to graduation in the spring.

The Comets will eye a return to the top of the OAC in 2024 with rising seniors Grace Estes, Catherine Zugaro, Francesca Longano, Nicole Ogden, Shelby Jackson, and Abby English, along with a host of other key pieces to the program.
