COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team fell to Heidelberg University on Wednesday night 3-0 via a 25-12, 25-17, 28-26 scoreline.
The Comets now sit at 6-18 overall and 0-8 in the conference, while Heidelberg is 15-14 and 3-5 on the year.
A dominant offensive evening for the Student Princes led to the eventual result. In just the first set, Heidelberg hit at a near .400 percentage before landing a quarter of their attacks in the second set. On the other end, Capital struggled offensively, hitting just .054 for the match.
Capital was led offensively by
Lindsay Rich and
Simone Daniel who each landed eight kills.
Alissa Holler added six, while
Larissa Smith and
Samaree Perkins combined for the other eight Comet kills.
Bryn Whitmer set up 21 assists while
Abby Brunner set up seven helpers.
At the service line,
Olivia Spillers landed two aces, while Whitmer landed one.
In the back row,
Abby Brunner scooped up a game-high 19 digs, followed closely by
Michaela Recker who scooped up a career-best 15 digs.
Larissa Smith had a day blocking, sending back three solo swats and adding another assist.
Simone Daniel and
Samaree Perkins were each in on one solo and one assisted block.
