GAMBIER, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule for the 2022 season with a 3-1 victory over Kenyon College on Tuesday evening.
After falling 19-25 in the first set, the Comets stormed back to take the final three sets in order by scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-16.
It wasn't made easy for the Comets early on as Kenyon snatched the first set. After Capital battled back to even the score at 1-1, it looked to be all Comets the rest of the way. However, with Capital ahead as much as 18-8, and then again 20-10 in the third, Kenyon roared back to take a 23-22 lead. The run by the Owls was buoyed forwarded by 10 errors by the Comets, thus making things more difficult. Thankfully, a kill from
Larissa Smith got the Comets going again before the Owls committed back-to-back errors to give the set the Capital 25-23.
After the hectic finish to the third, the Comets eased through the fourth and clinching set by garnering an early lead and not looking back.
