Softball Endures Tough Road Trip at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University softball team ventured over to New Concord where they were shutout in back-to-back games by Muskingum University.

The Comets fell to 3-23 overall and 1-13 in the OAC.

Between the two games, Capital was led by Kelcie Schnitzler at the plate as she collected three hits. Liz Stonerock and Krislyn Bayles each added two hits each. The other two hits went to Tiffany Zuelzke and Lexie Leggett

Game one was thrown by Brianna Shearer for the Comets. Shearer tossed a solid game, conceding just nine hits and one walk. Unfortunately, six runners came around to score, including four in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the process, Shearer did strike out four Muskie hitters.

The second game was a group effort on the pitching rubber as Krislyn Bayles started and was followed up by Shearer and Kelcie Schnitzler. Bayless allowed four hits and four runs in her only inning of work. Shearer then threw 1.2 innings, again allowing four runs on four hits. She struck out three. Schnitzler followed up both with five hits and five runs. She struck out one.
