Softball Shutout at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – It just wasn't their day as the Capital University softball team was upended in back-to-back games by John Carroll University in shutout fashion.

Game one went the way of the Blue Streaks 5-0, before the hosts also claimed the second game 6-0. The decision set the Comets back to 3-21 overall and 1-11 in conference.

Between the two games, Capital scattered just nine hits led by three off the bat of Liz Stonerock and two from Mishae Fouch. Tiffany Zuelzke Hannah St. Clair, Krislyn Bayles, and Lexie Leggett accounted for the other base knocks.

Packing a bit of power, both Stonerock and St. Clair collected a double. For Stonerock, it was her team-leading seventh double of the year, while it was St. Clair's first career extra base hit.

Game one was pitched in full by Brianna Shearer as she tossed a complete six innings and allowed seven hits and five earned runs. She struck out a decent 10 Blue Streaks in the process – her highest total of the year.

Game two was hurled by Krislyn Bayles who tossed 3.2 innings and allowed 10 hits and six runs. She struck out two batters in her work. Shearer came on to finish the final 2.1 innings and allowed just two hits while punching out two more hitters.
