Women’s Hoops to Host #Play4Kay Game This Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Capital University's interim women's basketball coach Camille McPherson announced the team will be hosting their annual #Play4Kay game this Saturday as they welcome Mount Union to the Capital Center.

The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 12th at 2 p.m. as the front half of a doubleheader, as the Capital men will take on Mount Union immediately after the women, at approximately 4 p.m.

In addition to the #Play4Kay festivities, Capital will also hold senior day recognitions just prior to tip-off, recognizing Brooke Ommert and Emma Burns for their contributions to the program. The men's team and the cheerleaders will also hold their senior day recognition just before their tip.

The Capital women will be wearing their pink jerseys on Saturday to help bring awareness to the cause as well.

What is #Play4Kay?
The vision of Play4Kay came directly from Coach Kay Yow. Through Play4Kay, she saw a way to bring communities together and honor cancer warriors in the fight against ALL cancers affecting women.  As Play4Kay evolved, the mechanisms for fundraising have expanded and so have the initiatives. Schools nationwide are finding ways to "Play4Kay" on and off the basketball court. *Courtesy of kayyow.com/play4kay*

How Can You Support?
Capital women's basketball will be selling t-shirts in the Capital Center lobby throughout the day on Saturday. T-shirts cost $12, with all proceeds benefiting the Kay Yow Fund. Shirts can be purchased with cash or card.

The regular 50/50 raffle that normally benefits Capital's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will donate all proceeds to the Kay Yow Fund. Additionally, SAAC will donate all dollars raised through the halftime half-court contest toward the fund as well.

SAAC will again donate proceeds raised through the 50/50 and the halftime contests during the men's contest to the Kay Yow Fund.

Those looking to make a donation to the Kay Yow Fund can do so in support of Capital Women's Basketball by visiting the Kay Yow Website by clicking here, or by making a cash donation in the Capital Center Lobby at the t-shirt table on Saturday.
