HOW IT HAPPENED
After winning the opening tip, Capital went right down the court and went ahead 3-0 to start the game on the front foot.
Dom Moegerle cashed in a 3-pointer off a feed from
Griffin Doseck.
Five more points in quick succession, thanks to a pair of layups by Doseck, extended the lead and gave Cap some breathing room at 7-2.
After some back-and-forth, the Purple and White continued to pull away, moving ahead 19-9 after a made 3-pointer from
Tre Hammond and another layup by Doseck.
About two minutes later,
Alex Eyink's made 3-pointer pushed Capital ahead by 11 points – their largest lead of the game thus far.
A run by the Polar Bears would trim the separation to just two points at 32-30, but a flurry before the half, sent the Comets to the break with a 41-32 lead.
