Men’s Golf Claims Top Spot in OAC Fall Preview

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Capital University men's golf team was back on the course this past weekend, partaking in the OAC Fall Preview at River Greens Golf Club. It was an outstanding weekend on the links for the Comets as their first five topped the leaderboard – finishing 12 strokes above their closest competition – and the second squad took seventh out of the 14-team pool.

A TEAM (1ST: 296, 2ND: 298, TOTAL: 594)
Capital's first five finished off their successful weekend by claiming the top spot on the leaderboard with an overall score of 594. The 36-hole score marks the third lowest in Capital Men's Golf history. The Comets finished off day one with a score of 296 and kept the good times rolling in round two with a 298.

Angelo Donato had an outstanding weekend, finishing with day with his second 36-hole score of 143 on the year. This puts him with another entry at the four spot in the individual record book. Donato's first round was highlighted by a hole-in-one on a 197 yard par three, just one of six holes in which he shot underpar. He finished the day with only 69 strokes. The senior from Mayfield kept his form in the second round, shooting 74 and securing his second medalist spot in the three tournaments this fall.

Andrew Simpson and Vince Daher went shot for shot, being mirror images of each other throughout the tournament. The pair finished even at 75 after the first day and ran it back with another set of 75s on day two. The two seniors tied for eight overall with a total score of 150 apiece.

Ricky Walsh came next, finishing with an overall score of 153. Walsh's first round of 79, coupled with dropping four strokes on day two secured him the 20th spot.

Rounding out the Capital line-up is Jack Curtis who finished the tournament with a score of 155. Curtis started the tournament strong with a 77 on the first day and added a stroke on day two, shooting 78.

B TEAM (1ST: 312, 2ND: 310, TOTAL: 622)
The Capital's second five took the seventh place out of the 14 competing teams with a total score of 622.

Adam Murphy, a sophomore from Liberty Township scored 81 on the first day.  Ben Satterthwaite followed closely behind, finishing the first 18 holes with an 87.

Going into day two, Frimel, Czerniakowski, and Satterthwaite all shot a 76. Murphy and Donahue both finished day two with a score of 83.
