Women’s Soccer Holds No. 5 Carnegie Mellon to One Goal

PITTSBURGH, Pa. –  The Capital University women's soccer team squared off against the fifth ranked team in the nation in the form of the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans this Sunday, holding them to just one goal in a 1-0 loss.

The Purple and White's defense was on display Sunday afternoon as they continually shut down a high powered Carnegie Mellon offense. Despite 16 shot attempts, only one ball found the back of the net for the Tartans. That goal was scored by Ayana Curto in the 31st minute, assisted by Alana Frederick.

The standout on the Capital side was once again Lauren White. She put on a clinic between the pipes for the Purple and White, making nine saves in another spectacular performance.

Capital will return to action this Friday against the Wolverines from Grove City College. That game will take place at home on the turf of Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
