HANOVER, Ind. -- The Capital University women's soccer team was upended by a 4-0 margin on the road on Saturday afternoon. The hosts, Hanover College, benefitted in every offensive category to brush aside Capital.
The loss dropped Capital's season's record back to 0-5-1 and Hanover moved to 3-0-2 on the season.
In the first half, Hanover held a significant margin of offensive pressure, out-shooting Capital 8-2 in the first 45 minutes. The pressure paid off for the hosts in the 39th minute. Kate Bettner got on the end of a pass from Bryn Rolfsen to put Hanover ahead.
Facing the barrage of pressure in the first half,
Lauren White stopped four shots in the Capital goal by the halftime intermission.
Out of the break, Hanover kept up their pressure and eventually doubled their lead in the 69th minute off an Autumn Boothby goal.
Things kind of got away from Capital at that point as Hanover tacked on two more goals before the final whistle to take the win 4-0. The final goals came via Maggie Day and Marigrace Anderson.
Avery Hart led Capital with two shots on goal, while
Madeline Woodruff and
Olivia Rotolo each tallied a shot for Cap. Despite conceding four times,
Lauren White stopped nine shots across the 90-minute match.
Capital returns to the field with yet another tough non-conference match next Saturday at Hope College. Kickoff in Holland, Michigan is scheduled for 4 p.m.
