ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team saw two significant streaks come to an end in Monday night's 1-0 loss to Ohio Northern University at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The loss drops the Crusaders to 5-1-0 overall on the campaign.

Capital continued with its up-tempo style of play and held the advantage in shots against both in the first half and overall. The Purple and White launched six shots to ONU's four in the first, landing three on frame. Despite the offensive pressure, that pace was also felt on the defensive side where Capital was called for five fouls to Ohio Northern's one.

One of those said fouls set up the lone score of the game. As Capital played the ball back to keeper Lauren White with under 15:00 remaining, midfielder Lauren Bowe slid over to receive the pass but drew contact while attempting to maintain possession. She was whistled for the foul, setting up Sienna Ward for a free kick just outside the top arch. Ward then launched a shot directly off of the restart and found the upper 90 on the near side, giving ONU the lead.

The Polar Bears' attempt to match Capital offensive cadence proved to keep CU's opportunities limited in nature, though both team's shot counts rose in the final 45. Cap's best and last chance to tie the match came just short of the 87th minute when Emily Mathias went bottom left on ONU keeper Kristy Catrine, but the shot was stopped short of the goal line. Ohio Northern kept Capital off the board to deliver CU its first loss of the season, 1-0.
Catrine was tested and made six saves in the Polar Bears' victory, while Lauren White made three stops over 90:00 of play. Lexi Snider threw three shots toward the cage, landing one of frame.

With the goal, Capital's streak of holding opponents scoreless came to an end at 480:52. It also broke Cap's five match winning streak to open the season. Cap (5-1-0) will play Wilmington at Williams Stadium (Wilmington, Ohio) in its next match to begin new streaks heading into the back half of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 8.
