BEXLEY, Ohio –  The Capital University women's soccer team set cruise control in a Tuesday evening OAC Tournament Quarterfinal victory to advance to the semi finals at Ohio Northern University on Thursday night. Capital outshot visiting No. 6 seed John Carroll University 23-4 in the contest and won by a comfortable 2-0 margin.

The win brought Capital's overall record to 7-2 on the season.

In what proved to be the tone setter for the game, Capital dominated the first half. During the first 45 minutes, the Purple and White outshot the Blue Streaks 19-1 en route to a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.

Bridget Mallin got Cap on the board in the 14th minute with an outstanding goal directly from a corner kick. Mallin's "olimpico" sailed through the congested box before pinging the back post and into the net.

The pressure paid off with a second goal off the foot of Lexi Snider. Snider collected a pass from Casey King and worked her way to the top of the box before slamming home a low drive past the outstretched JCU keeper.

The second half proved to be much more mellow as the Crusaders possessed their way to the victory. In all, Cap held the ball for 71% of the match, making it virtually impossible for JCU to build any momentum.

John Carroll's Grace Monnin had the best opportunity of the evening for the visitors as she broke through  one-on-one with reserve goalie Alexa Chieffo. The freshman came up big as she charged the on-rushing Monnin. Cheiffo turned the shot away for Capital's lone save of the evening. Lauren White started the game between the pipes but was not called into action.

Danielle DelGuidice made eight saves for John Carroll.

Capital will look to clinch a berth in the OAC Tournament finals on Thursday night as they travel to No. 2 seeded Ohio Northern. Kickoff in Ada is slated for 7 p.m.
