WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team took a 13-3 loss to rival Otterbein at Memorial Stadium in Westerville on Saturday night. Capital is now 5-2 overall, 2-2in official OAC play.

It took nearly eight minutes for either team to find the game's first goal and that moment belonged to host Otterbein. It also sprouted a three-goal run fueled by three different scorers. Capital was held without a goal until the 9:21 mark of the second quarter when Johnathan Kilgallon scored while Cap was on the man-up. Cap was then held scoreless until the top of the fourth quarter, while Otterbein scored eight unanswered goals to take an 11-1 lead into the fourth.

Nathan Montgomery and Kilgallon each scored in the final frame, but the game was well in hand by that point. Otterbein also answered both of those goals to maintain its 10-goal lead until the end.
Otterbein sustained a constant stronghold over Capital through its offense, outshooting the Crusaders 45-28. The Cardinals also held advantages in turnovers caused (18-15), ground balls (23-19), and clears completed (25-12). While Capital did not allow a man-up goal to the Cardinals in six opportunities, it was only able to convert one of its 10 opportunities while on the man advantage.

Capital will regroup and head back to the field on Wednesday, April 14 to play the University of Mount Union in Alliance. This matchup was originally scheduled on March 27 but was postponed at the time. The Purple Raiders and Crusaders will face off at 7 p.m. from Mount Union Stadium.
