COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital women's soccer team played a fantastic game, handing John Carroll (2-1) their first loss of the season in commanding fashion. The Capital offense kept up the pressure all match long, scoring three times and forcing an own goal to get the shutout victory.

MAKING A STATEMENT
  • The teams were pretty evenly matched through the first 15 minutes with a couple shots each but it did not take long for the Crusader offense to take over.
  • In the 19th minute, junior Kailey Stanisovska put the first goal on the board to put Capital on top 1-0.
  • After a flurry of substitutions for each side, Capital began to take charge once again and after making one move, freshman Lexi Snider sailed a ball past the opposing keeper to double the Crusader advantage in the 38th minute.
  • The Blue Streaks were unable to mount any kind of response for the rest of the period, being held to just three shots across the first half by the Capital defense to remain down 2-0 at the break.
  • Out of the half, the Crusaders kept the heat on and after attempting to put a shot in and the offense swarming, a John Carroll player had the ball bounce off of her as she was diving and roll into the net for an own goal in the 50th minute.
  • Capital cruised for much of the rest of the game within the Blue Streaks zone, firing in multiple shots.
  • One of which connected off the foot of sophomore Aaliyah Brletic to seal the victory in the 69th minute of play.
  • In the final 20 minutes, the Crusaders managed to keep John Carroll from getting any shots off to retain the clean sheet and claim the 4-0 win.
