COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team completed a huge come from behind victory over Baldwin Wallace (2-5) to move to 3-4 on the season. The Crusaders were down by 16 halfway through the first period but were able to regroup and come roaring back to win by nine at nights end.

SLOW START, LATE LIFE
  • Griffin Doseck made the first basket of the game and each team started to drop shots at a high clip, tied at 7-7 through three-minutes.
  • The Crusaders started to cool but the Yellow Jackets continued to hit their shots, steadily pulling away and building a lead of 16 by the halfway point of the period. Then Capital started to heat up.
  • The Purple and White began to take the momentum as Baldwin Wallace started to lose their steam and slowly chipped away at the lead.
  • Six different scorers found the bottom of the bucket and after two three-point shots made by freshman David Sanford, Capital whittled the lead all the way down to four points with just over two minutes to play.
  • The last couple minutes were a free for all of fouls, turnovers and missed shots but senior Joe Hartmann made the last shot with 10 seconds in the half to bring the Crusaders within two points at 34-36 with a half left to play.

CLOSING IT OUT
  • 55 ticks into the second half, senior Reed Bradfield stole the ball and went the length of the floor to toss in a layup and tie the game at 36-all.
  • A minute later, freshman Keandre Graves drained a shot from behind the arc to give the Crusaders their first lead since 17:40 in the first half.
  • The lead would swing back and forth, making most of the 14 lead changes and 12 ties for the game, getting back to even as late as 8:37 at 59 on a Baldwin Wallace free throw.
  • After that point, buckets from Cameron Caldwell, Combs, Bradfield and Tyler Schreck built a six point lead for Capital with 5:31 to play.
  • The lead would not hold as the Yellow Jackets strung together a few buckets to deadlock the contest at 73 a little over a minutes later.
  • Nevertheless, Capital held firm, capitalizing on Baldwin Wallace mistakes and fouls to begin to amass a lead of eight with 43 seconds left in the game.
  • The Yellow Jackets then began the foul game but to no avail as the Crusaders firmly cemented the victory, making three of four free throws down the stretch to win the game by nine.

  • The Crusaders overcame a 16 point deficit in the eventual nine point victory.
  • The team received 25 points from the bench and 21 off the fast break.
