McLean Fitzmartin will begin his second year as the graduate assistant men’s lacrosse coach in 2020.
Fitzmartin, a Columbus native, played club lacrosse for Resolute under Matt Lee and split his prep career between St. Charles Preparatory School (2010-12) and St. Francis DeSales (2012-14) where he was a captain his senior year and helped DeSales to a state semifinal appearance. He finished his career at DeSales with 43 goals and 20 assists as a midfielder.
Fitzmartin went on to attend Wheeling Jesuit University from 2014 to 2018 where he was a four-year starter. He went on to score seven goals and eight assists, and added six caused turnovers and 19 ground balls on the defensive end. Collective, those teams combined to go 22-28 overall and had winning seasons in 2015 and 2016. He was named team captain for the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.
Following the completion of his college career, Fitzmartin joined the DeSales staff on a part-time basis to coach defense. That year, the team went to the Ohio state tournament and advanced to the state semifinals. He has also spent each of the last five summers coaching with Resolute Lacrosse.
Fitzmartin earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Wheeling Jesuit (2018) and is now in pursuit of his Masters of Business Administration from Capital.
